Our language class took a field trip to a local artist’s workshop where handmade paper and silk scarves are made. I marveled at the resourceful creativity of the artists; noThing was wasted. The simplicity, attention to detail and thoroughness of his work gave me a whole new appreciation for the value of hand made products.

hand mashed and water soaked wood laid in a frame

becomes a soggy paste that will dry in the sun

hand laid flowers spice up the finished product

after 1/2 a day of drying in the sun, voila..mush becomes paper!

After cutting the paper into cards, the little pieces will be made into tiny gift bags.

Hand spun silk will produce beautiful silk scarves. One scarf takes 3 days to complete.
